The work on my railroad layout began some 15 years ago. It went
through 4 major re-buildings, as I was striving all the time to
make it better. Since the term "better" is pretty relative,
sometimes I feel that I should really keep in mind the old saying
"don't fix if ain't broken".
Nevertheless, the latest rebuilding was more a necessity than
anything else - as I transformed my locomotive roster completely
into a modern diesel era, it meant the locomotives I am using
right now are much bigger than before - and practically all curves
need to be redone to accommodate the larger locomotives for a
trouble free run. In other words, once again majority of the layout
is in rebuilding stage, which is still work in progress.
 

Many of my layouts were featured in the most important
magazines in USA and Europe (Model Railroad Hobbyist,
Continental Modeller etc.), and if you wish to see more
comprehensive coverage of the latest working version of it, with
the track plan and all details, you may see it
 

My AWR fictional railroad obviously comes from the movie
Unstoppable (AWVR, anyone?), although in my book it reads
Alaska Western Railroad (a kind of inside joke actually, as the general theme of the layout isof course Alaska). AWR is a parent company of the Pacific & Northwestern Railroad, my former main railroad company.
